Kent is known as the Garden of England, and for good reason! The county boasts several Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with countless breathtaking beauty spots to explore. Kent is the perfect place to capture stunning images of your family amidst breathtaking landscapes and local landmarks. Scotney Castle – Lamberhurst

Scotney Castle is one of our favourite photography spots in Kent. This huge estate boasts a splendid mix of parkland and woodland and even a herd of Sussex cattle, making sure there are endless opportunities for magical family photographs. Belonging to the National Trust, this picturesque country house and gardens are open to the public all year round.

      

Monks House Garden – Lewes East Sussex

The garden at Monks House is the ideal spot to take some incredible photos. Coming to life in the summer months with a blaze of colourful blooms and butterflies, it provides the ideal backdrop for a family photoshoot. Whilst you’re there, take the opportunity to gaze across the splendid hills and valleys of the Sussex Downs.

      

Sandwich & Pegwell Bay National Nature Reserve

The coastal haven of Sandwich and Pegwell Bay National Nature Reserve comes into its own during the summer months. The grass is dotted with wild flowers such as orchids and broomrapes at this time of year, making it a magical setting for taking photos. Listen to the rolling waves on the sand and watch the wonderful wildlife as you make memories with your loved ones.

   

Ightham Mote – Sevenoaks

Ightham Mote near Sevenoaks in Kent is an outstanding 14th-century moated manor house. Nestled at the bottom of a deep valley, the gardens here occupy 14 acres, providing countless opportunities for photographs. There’s a series of pretty water features running throughout, adding interest and intrigue. Our favourite part of the Ightham Mote gardens is the Enclosed Garden, hidden behind ragstone walls. Secluded and intimate, it provides a charming space to capture those special memories. The formal garden, cutting garden, and stable courtyard are also wonderful photography spots during the summer months.

   

Emmetts Garden – Sevenoaks

Sitting on one of Kent’s highest points, Emmetts Garden enjoys spectacular views across the Weald . Whilst it remains a family home, the estate welcomes visitors throughout the year. One of the main draws of Emmetts Garden is its diversity. From sunken rock gardens and pretty spring flowers to a meadow where kids can fly kites, there’s an eclectic mix of surprises to discover as you stroll through. This ensures that there are many photography opportunities to be explored here.

       

Sissinghurst Castle Garden – Cranbrook

The National Trust’s Sissinghurst Castle Garden, near Cranbrook in Kent, is the renowned garden of writer Vita Sackville-West. One of the most famous gardens in England, it’s heralded for its immense beauty and diversity. Summer brings Sissinghurst Castle Garden to life, introducing an abundance of colour. During May, sun-loving Irises bloom around the garden whilst June brings with it bright roses which take centre stage in the rose garden. With so many splendid shades and hues, it’s the perfect spot for an on-location photoshoot.

Westgate Gardens – Canterbury

The Westgate Parks are located to the north-west of Canterbury, with the historic landmark Westgate Towers forming the main entrance to the parks. The park is made up of four distinct areas: Westgate Gardens, Tannery Field, Toddler’s Cove and Bingley Island Local Nature Reserve.

The River Great Stour runs through the centre of the park linking the urban and rural landscape, which is rich in heritage and wildlife. There is plenty to see or do in this gem of a park located in the heart of Canterbury

   

Leeds Castle – Maidstone

I have photographed many events and family sessions here at Leeds Castle. My personal favourite is The Princess Alexandra Gardens. It has everything; carpets of daffodils, huge trees and my family photo hot spot is in front if the stunning waterfall with the Castle in the background.

   

Manor Park Country Park – West Malling

My most recent on-location mini photography session in May was held here and it’s lovely!

Once part of an 18th century country estate, Manor Park offers a wide range of natural habitats for you to enjoy, from beautiful wildflower meadows, to woodland copses and a serene lake. With a café offering delicious local food, children’s play area and historical points of interest, Manor Park is a wonderful place to spend a family day out.
